In collaboration with senior members of the planning team, she leverages her proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS to guide parks, recreation, sport, and library plans. She also conducts research, supports community engagement events, and prepares reports.

Eric Steele, BES

Intermediate Planner

Eric is a skilled land use planner with broad experience managing development applications, including Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendments, Minor Variances, Subdivisions, and Site Plan Control approvals. Eric supports Official Plan updates, reviews of zoning policies, and provides ongoing planning advisory services to a lower-tier municipality, including application review and policy interpretation.

Amanda Morielli, BScFN, MA

Planner

From her educational background in health and urban planning, Amanda developed a passion for improving community wellbeing through parks, recreation, culture, and library planning. Having worked as a research assistant for municipalities and universities, Amanda is skilled in quantitative, qualitative, and spatial analysis methods. She is focused on creating data-driven and evidence-based plans that are practical and engaging.

  • Holds a Master of Arts in Planning from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Western University.
  • Amanda has abundant hands-on experience with parks, recreation and culture, allowing her to understand the needs of a diverse variety of user groups. She has played in leagues for over seven different sports, delivered arts and culture camp programming for five years, and is an avid fibre artist and trail runner.

Dylan Whitty, BES

Planner

Dylan is committed to delivering the highest level of guidance to every client. He is proficient in Microsoft Office, working closely with the MBPC team to provide high-quality reports and materials for engaging consultation. Dylan conducts research, supports community engagement initiatives, and prepares reports.

Jayme Hudyma, H.BEDP

Planner

Jayme is dedicated to providing valuable guidance to every unique community and client. Skilled in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, and various graphic design tools, she collaborates closely with the Monteith Brown team to deliver high-quality reports, visually engaging materials, and meaningful community engagement. 

Since joining the firm, Jayme has prepared and supported many master plans and feasibility studies across the parks, recreation, library, and culture sectors. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Design and Planning degree from Fanshawe College, where she also gained experience volunteering with the County of Brant’s Development Services Department. 

Driven by curiosity and creativity, Jayme is passionate about expanding her knowledge and helping shape innovative communities.

Adam Lagrou, B.Sc.

Planner

Adam holds a degree in Environmental Science from McMaster University and a Diploma in GIS and Urban Planning from Fanshawe College, bringing a well-rounded background to land use planning. Before entering the planning field, he operated his own arborist company, giving him hands-on experience in environmental management. Today, Adam leverages this expertise to assist in the delivery of comprehensive land use solutions within the planning and development sector.

Specializing in land development planning and GIS analysis, Adam contributes to a wide range of projects across Ontario. His responsibilities include site-specific due diligence research, policy review, and the preparation of planning rationale and detailed planning documents. He plays a key role in drafting planning justification reports and supporting senior staff with applications for planning approvals such as Official Plan Amendments, Zoning By-law Amendments, Minor Variances, Draft Plans of Subdivision or Condominium, and Site Plan Approvals. Additionally, Adam assists with spatial analysis, report graphics, research, and preparations for hearings before the Ontario Land Tribunal.

Benita Senkevics, CPT

Senior Design Technician

Benita has been with MBPC for 14 years as the senior design technician, assisting with the planning applications by collecting analyzing data, and providing support plans for these applications, along with reviewing and studying relevant legislation and policies. Benita collaborates with developers; they ensure developments align with planning policies and suggest innovative and sustainable design solutions. Skilled in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and graphic design software, Benita has the knowledge and experience base to guide a development proposal from concept to execution through various planning processes. She has been in development planning for 26 years, also preparing Landscape Plans for municipal approval, working closely with a contracted Landscape Architect on residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Dennis Kwan, BES, MCIP, RPP

Senior Planner

Dennis joined Monteith Brown in 2010 after receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo. As a Senior Planner, Dennis is extensively involved in a variety of master planning projects and related feasibility studies with a focus on parks, recreation, culture, trails, and library planning. Dennis brings extensive experience working in small rural and urban communities throughout southwestern Ontario to large municipalities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. He is involved in all aspects of the planning process, including background research, design, and implementation of community consultation, needs and data analysis, and report preparation, as well as project coordination with clients and team members. 

With a strong interest in aesthetics, Dennis plays a pivotal role in providing design direction on Monteith Brown’s public-facing materials, including consultation and presentation material, maps and final documents, ensuring that they are visually pleasing, reader-friendly, and universally accessible.

Kristin Lefave

Office Manager

Kristin Lefave is dedicated to ensuring smooth and efficient office operations at Monteith Brown Planning Consultants. With over 12 years of experience in office management, Kristin adeptly handles administrative tasks, supports financial processes, and fosters a positive workplace culture. She works closely with the team to enhance productivity and collaboration.

Anand Desai, M.E., Des., MCIP, RPP

Principal Planner & Partner

Anand is an avid enthusiast and planner of recreation and parks systems, having set foot in over 1,500 parks spanning four continents, along with hundreds of community centres, libraries, galleries, and museums throughout his personal and professional endeavours. Anand’s passion as a planner stems from his love of travelling and experiencing architecture, nature, food, and culture around the globe. A similar passion for sports has driven his success in the parks and recreation sector. 

Anand’s 20 years of planning and management experience has led to a portfolio of 200 master plans, strategic plans, feasibility studies, policy work, and other reports. His work has touched upon many facets of community well-being through projects encompassing recreation and parks, public libraries, arts and culture, community improvement and sustainability, urban intensification, and land use planning.

  • Anand was born in Oxford County and raised in London, Ontario, where he now resides with his wife and two children 
  • He holds a Master of Environmental Design (Planning) from the University of Calgary, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University

Steve Langlois, BES, MCIP, RPP

Vice-President & Principal Planner

Steve is an accomplished planner and project manager with 25 years of experience as a key member of Monteith Brown’s team. He specializes in parks, recreation, and library strategic and master planning, as well as capital and operational planning and feasibility analysis. Steve excels in helping local governments of all sizes make forward-looking decisions informed by comprehensive research and analysis.

With a track record of over 200 projects, Steve has addressed a wide range of needs, including aquatics, arenas, recreation centres, sports facilities, libraries, park amenities, and parkland policy. His expertise has been instrumental in assisting municipalities of all sizes across Ontario in planning for their changing communities.

Known for his inquisitive and detail-oriented approach, Steve continuously seeks to apply innovative methods tailored to the unique circumstances of each project. He focuses on distinguishing between needs and wants, enhancing public benefits, and fostering shared interests that drive sustainable outcomes. 

Steve is adept at leading multi-disciplinary teams and frequently facilitates public consultation programs. His calm demeanor and attention to detail are invaluable in engaging with individuals, stakeholders, and elected officials.

Jay McGuffin, H.BA, MCIP, RPP

President & Principal Planner

Jay joined the Firm in 1997 and has since established himself as a leading expert in land use planning, urban design, and project management. With a commitment to serving a diverse range of municipal and private sector clients, Jay leverages his interdisciplinary background—combining academic knowledge, technical proficiency, and a creative flair for design—to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to each project.

In his role as Principal Planner, Jay leads all of the Firm’s land development and design projects, applying his extensive skills in land use planning, residential subdivision design, site planning, master planning, urban design, and public consultation. His expertise includes strategic navigation of the planning approvals process, ensuring that projects move smoothly from concept to completion. Jay is also instrumental in the firm’s long-range planning and policy projects, providing strategic consultation to numerous municipal clients and offering expert witness testimony before the Ontario Land Tribunal, Superior Court of Justice, and other Tribunals. 

Jay holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from Trent University, an Honors Diploma in Geography (Urban Development) from the University of Western Ontario, and a Diploma in Urban Design from Fanshawe College. He is a Registered Professional Planner and an active member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute. His dedication to community engagement is evident from his service on the London Advisory Committee on Heritage.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jay is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys traveling, photography, and all forms of design. He believes that his personal pursuits serve to enhance his professional creativity and inform his approach to urban planning and design.
